Keep this container in a warm, bright, sheltered spot out of scorching, direct afternoon sun for 2 to 3 days. Water lightly if the soil surface feels dry. This helps the young plant overcome transport shock before being planted out.
Soil Requirements:
Thrives in rich, loamy, well-draining soil with plenty of organic compost. Ideal soil pH is between 6.0 and 6.8.
Watering:
Provide consistent, moderate moisture (about 1 to 2 inches of water per week). Water deeply at the base of the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.
Planting:
Wait until nighttime temperatures consistently stay above 55∘F (13∘C). Dig a hole twice as wide as this pot. Gently slide the root ball out, plant it at the exact same depth it sat in the container, firm the soil gently, and water thoroughly.
Feeding:
Use a balanced fertilizer during early growth. Once the plant begins to flower and set fruit, switch to a low-nitrogen, higher-potassium/phosphorus fertilizer to encourage heavy pepper production rather than just excess foliage.
